Beyond A Typical Comic Con Experience

Paramount Pictures worked with GRADIENT on another successful activation – this time celebrating the Blu-Ray release of Star Trek Beyond at this year’s NY Comic Con. With the goal of creating an engaging fan experience that is shareable and gains publicity, we carefully designed a multi-touchpoint experience within the 20’ x 20’ booth.

Idea

The experience featured two sharable photo activations:

1. BEHIND THE SCENES: A fan’s dream finally comes true! – Fans were able to play a part in the Star Trek Beyond movie, creating a short shareable GIF of themselves acting in the captain’s chair.

2. POSTER PHOTO BOOTH: Guests were given a photo opportunity to be the main character in a digitally shared Star Trek Beyond poster. (Captain Kirk’s figure would be replaced by fan as in mockup to right).

Results

Selected as one of the “Top 5 coolest things to do at ComicCon”, the activation significantly overshot its media impression, generating nearly $5M in social media impressions
